No doubt, you have been waiting for the announcement of Young Sheldon Season 3. Yet CBS opted to make a double surprise for you since the sitcom is coming back for two more seasons through Season 4. As a rule, a spin-off rarely has a chance to surpass its predecessor. Yet we can't apply this rule to Young Sheldon, which premiered back in September 2017.
The pilot episode has garnered 17.209 million viewers with a 3.82 demo rating among adults 18-49, and this figure was very high. Even despite the fact that the second premiere has drawn 38.50% less viewers, the ratings were steady. Finally, the season finale has garnered 13.595 million viewers with a 2.10 demo rating among adults (P18-49). Such statistics look impressive, even for a national broadcaster such as CBS. As a result, it was clear that CBS has conceived Young Sheldon as a long-term television project.
Another key factor which affected the decision by CBS is the response, which Young Sheldon has received from critics and viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, the 2nd round of the sitcom holds a score of 3.9/5 and a 76% approval rating. At the same time, the viewers have rated Young Sheldon Season 2 at 6.9 out of 10 on Metacritic. Summing up all the data above, nothing is surprising in that CBS made a decision in favor of renewal.
Young Sheldon Season 3 Release Date
As mentioned above, CBS has greenlit two additional television seasons for Young Sheldon. Nonetheless, no words have been said about specific release dates for the upcoming seasons. However, if we take a look at the current schedule of the sitcom, it becomes clear that Young Sheldon Season 3 is set to premiere this fall, on September 2019.
Of course, we are looking forward to the official announcement from CBS. As soon as the network reveals the additional details about the upcoming premieres, we will update this page. So guys, stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed.
Young Sheldon Summary
The story focuses on Sheldon Cooper, a nine-year-old gifted kid who attends a high school, skipping four grades thanks to his unique intellectual abilities. Sheldon is a prodigy that's why it's too complicated for him to interact with his classmates and neighbors.
To protect her child against bullies, Sheldon's mother admonishes the boy to tell others that his father is the football coach and his brother is on the team. By the way, Sheldon's less-intellectual older brother attends the same grade. Sheldon also has a twin sister who, though doesn't possess such outstanding mind, but instead is more socially integrated and witty.
