Is There Going To Be Given Season 2?

Those of you who have been witnessing the premiere of Given, are most likely concerned about the possibility of a Season 2. In fact, Given Season 2 renewal is yet to be announced. But still, we tend to believe that another round of the anime is due to happen. And below we are going to reveal why we think so.
As you know, Given anime is based on a Japanese yaoi manga series of the same name written by Natsuki Kizu. To date, the manga consists of five volumes. The manga went a two-year hiatus since December 2019. However, in 2019, it was resumed. The last, fifth volume of the Given manga was issued on April 1, 2019. Since the number of episodes in Given Season 1 is not revealed so far, we don't know for sure how many volumes were used for the current television adaptation.
However, to be honest, we doubt that the fifth book has been included in the 1st television installment. We thereby believe that only four previous volumes were included in Given Season 1. As a result, at least one volume of the original manga remains for another television season. It's worth mentioning that the 2nd volume of Given has been rated #39 on Oricon since 17,484 copies were sold during the 2nd week for a total of over 30,000 copies. The 3rd volume by the way reached #37, and sold 24,000 copies in the 1st week.
Talking about a reception, which the current season of Given has received from viewers, it was above praise. On MyAnimeList, Given Season 1 holds a score of 7.83/10 based on approx. 3,500 votes. Also worth noting that the musical genre is very popular in Japan. And we, thereby, predict a cloudless future for the anime series.
The final decision, in our opinion, would depend on the BD/DVD sales of the media franchise. Once we have the financial statistics of the Given anime, we will extend our forecast. By the way, the BD/DVD release will be available on September 25, 2019, and will cost 6,500 yen + tax for Blu-ray, and 5,500 yen + tax for DVD.
Summing up, it's unclear so far whether there will be a Season 2 of Given. However, given the data presented above, we have every reason to believe that Given Season 2 is just a matter of time. Anyway, we are tracking down all the data which arrive from the official Japanese sources on the subject of Given Season 2. Once the next season is confirmed, we will update this page.
Given Season 2 Release Date
As mentioned above, we don't rule out the possibility of Given Season 2. Talking about a likely release date, we assume that there are two possible scenarios. In the best case scenario, if the Lerche studio adapted only two volumes of the original manga, we might expect Given Season 2 already next summer, in July 2020, given the current schedule of the series, since we have enough source material.
In case if Given Season 1 covers four volumes of the manga, we have only one book, remaining for a Season 2, and thereby we need at least three more volumes. In such a case, it may take 2-3 years when Natsuki Kizu, the manga author, publishes required volumes. So, in the worst case scenario, we will have to wait until 2023-2024.
In any case, the data above is only our forecast. We are therefore looking forward to any official news from the Lerche studio. As soon as the studio confirms Given Season 2 or announces a specific release date for another television round of the anime, we will update this page. So guys, stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed.
