ABC had canceled The Mayor, back in January, the show, which had the similar ratings. So, there is a reasonable question, whether there will be a second season of Alex, Inc. on ABC? Unfortunately, we were right in our forecast. The network opted not to pick up Alex, Inc.for one more round.
Below is our forecast.
No doubt, the show's ratings were unfortunate. Alex, Inc. has garnered 4.600 million viewers with a 1.12 key demo among adults (18-49) during its premiere on ABC. But the next episode titled "The Wax Museum" has drawn 3.730 million viewers with a 0.90 demo rating. As a result, a downtrend is evident. We expect two possible scenarios depending on the ratings. If Alex, Inc. manages to keep the viewing audience above the mark of 3.5 million viewers per episode, ABC will renew the show for a next installment. Otherwise, the renewal is unlikely, in our opinion.
Another unfavorable sign is that Alex, Inc. has received entirely ambivalent reception. On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season of the sitcom holds a score of 4.55/10 and a 43% approval rating from critics, while the viewers have evaluated Alex, Inc. at 4.3/5/80%. But it's worth noting that the last indicator looks favorable. On the other hand, on Metacritic, the statistics seem catastrophic, 49/100 and 2.2/10, among critics/viewers, respectively. Meanwhile, an overall score of Alex, Inc. on IMDb is 5.6/10 ~ 500 votes.
Of course, the ratings were weak but acceptable. The response from critics and viewers was controversial, however, satisfactory. After all, Alex, Inc. is a typical sitcom, which is suitable for the ABC lineup. However, our verdict is that Alex, Inc. won't return for Season 2 on ABC.
