The Asterisk War | Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Season 3

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk

I doubt that there is at least one of us who isn't eager to see The Asterisk War | Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Season 3. Of course, each of you is looking forward to the renewal and the release date announcement. The last news on the official website of the anime series is dated April 25, 2017 and they are all about the blue-ray edition Vol. 3 & 4. But still, looks like there is no announcement of the next season on the official site of the anime. Nonetheless, the franchise doesn't look dead, and there are some reasons why.

The Asterisk War takes its roots in the light novel series, which is currently ongoing. Moreover, looks like we are seriously lagging compared to the Japanese publishers. To date, we have two upcoming volumes which are yet to be released; one of them is expected to be issued December 11, 2018, the next one release date is slated for March 19, 2019. Meanwhile, five more chapters are available in Japan. The latter one was issued on April 25, 2018. As a result, we now have some additional source material for another television season of The Asterisk War.

The other exciting news is that The Asterisk War is available on Netflix since November 2018. Without a doubt, everyone knows that Netflix picks up only successful and promising television projects. Occasionally, even if the initial production studio decides not to pick up the show for another round, Netflix renews it for the next installment. In any case, each anime, which managed to get into the Netflix listing has a good chance for the renewal. I suppose that before purchasing Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Netflix's leadership looked at the reception by the target audience and their ratings (at least at MAL, 7.10 > 165,000 votes [Season 1] 7.30/10 > 107,000 votes [Season 2], accordingly).

In my opinion, The Asterisk War Season 3 is quite possible, even without the Netflix support. A-1 Pictures Inc., the studio, which stands behind Gakusen Toshi Asterisk, as a rule picks up the promising anime series for the additional seasons. So, we have a good chance for the renewal. However, to be fair, also worth noting that a lot of series made by the A-1 Pictures studio are still in hiatus.

Summing up, I evaluate the odds of The Asterisk War to be renewed for a third season as quite strong. This anime has got more additional source materials and is included in the list of Netflix. We thereby may keep hoping that the next season could happen someday.

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Season 3 Release Date

As mentioned above, I don't rule out the renewal of The Asterisk War for Season 3. At least some indicators point out such a decision. Whether it be A-1 Pictures Inc. or Netflix, it doesn't matter. Thus, in the case of renewal I would schedule the release date for Season 3 someday next fall or even in early 2020. There has been no official announcement of Season 3 yet, so it's difficult to forecast. I'm looking forward to the official confirmation, to publish it here, on TV-Date.com. Stay tuned for updates.
