Succession was a huge success during the debut season premiere since both critics and viewers have appreciated HBO's freshman. On Rotten Tomatoes, Succession Season 1 holds a score of 7.77/10 and a 86% approval rating from critics, whereas the viewers have rated the show at 4 out of 5 and have given a 80% rating. On Metacritic, we see almost the same statistics, 70/100 and 7.3/10 among critics/viewers, respectively. At the same time, an overall score of Succession on IMDb is very high, 7.8/10 based on over 6,500 votes.
However, also worth noting that Succession can't boast with impressive television ratings. Succession Season 1 premiere has garnered just a bit more than half a million viewers (0.582) with a 0.15 key demographic rating among adults (P18-49). Yet it seems that such statistics were enough for HBO to make a decision on renewal, especially, given the fact that the season finale has drawn 730K viewers.
