Perhaps you are not aware of the free, ad-supported online video streamer Crackle. But this network distributes quality video content. StartUp is currently the #1 drama on Crackle. Those who watched the end of its 2nd season were excited how the show might continue. Most of the fans have been looking forward to the decision on renewal. Fortunately, on November 15, 2017, Crackle officially confirmed that the network had picked up StartUp for another round.

Of course, the decision was expected and obvious, since the second season left us with such an incredible cliffhanger. Noteworthy that Crackle opted not to torment viewers in anticipation. The announcement of renewal appeared on the official Twitter page of the web series just two months after the premiere of its sophomore season.
However, it’s worth noting that critics didn’t appreciate the show somehow. The first season of StartUp has received mixed and even negative reviews from critics. On Metacritic, the drama has a score of only 5.5/10|33%, while on Rotten Tomatoes, this figure is only 52/100. The viewers, on the contrary, praised StartUp. The series has a rating of 8.1/10 on IMDb based on about 6,000 votes. On Rotten Tomatoes, the drama series has a score of 4.6/5|91%. The visitors of Metacritic have rated StartUp at 7.4/10. So, as we may see, Crackle relies upon the opinion of the target audience most of all.
However, we also think that the story is unfinished. Perhaps, the third season of StartUp has been in the cards yet since the only beginning. Indeed, the storyline is tense and gripping. The idea of the show is currently relevant more than ever. Today we survive a fever of cryptocurrencies. Thus, the show possesses the almost unexhausted potential. As a rule, the decision on renewal mostly depends on the commercial success of the show. Nonetheless, Crackle is a free network of Sony Pictures Television. So, their further choices will depend on your activities to some extent. We want this show to last at least ten seasons. But the final decision nonetheless depends on the show’s creators.
According to the official report by Crackle, the network returns to Puerto Rico for filming Season 3 of StartUp. Crackle also officially confirmed that Mira Sorvino joins the team as Rebecca Stroud, an NSA special agent who has come to investigate ArakNet. Her mission is to take ArakNet under the control of the government. Aside from Mira, numerous distinguished actors join StartUp in its third installment. Among them, Zachary Knighton, who will portray Tucker, a hedge-fund manager who will provide round B funding to ArakNet; Tyler Labine will play his brother, Martin, who quietly jealous of his brother’s success in business, and who thereby will put his firm at risk. Finally, Jason Kravits will portray Richard “Haggie,” a tricky but unreliable partner of Wes, who dominates over him.
The story begins when an ordinary guy Nick Talman invests money, presumably belonging to his father’s into a risky business, a startup, initiated by a talented coder Izzy Morales. She is an aspired young woman, who dreams about the bright future where people are independent of the government, barriers, and laws. That’s why Izzy’s idea was to develop a decentralizing cryptocurrency which she named GenCoin. However, despite the fact that Nick believed in her endeavors, he mistakenly borrowed not his father’s bucks.
This money, in fact, belonged to a Haitian gang member, Ronald Dacey, who soon retrieved them back. In an attempt to return someone else’s money, Nick begins to do wrong steps that cause numerous disastrous events. Nonetheless, a trio eventually starts work together. However, the life of each of them gradually becomes even more complicated. As a result, they all lose loved ones.
But it seems that nothing can stop the guys on the way to their dream. Furthermore, a corrupt FBI agent, Phil Rask, is pursuing the team of unfortunate entrepreneurs at every turn. No matter what, the trio managed to cope with their troubles, and even find a business angel, Wes Chandler. However, their new partner is possibly even more dangerous than their enemies.
What Do We Expect In Season 3 Of StartUp?
As you may have remembered, Wes turned out to be the one, who stands behind the murder of Nick’s father. This fact might complicate their confrontation during the next season, especially given Nick’s relationship with Wes’ daughter, Mara. Moreover, their deal with Russian mafia might turn into another betrayal. Nonetheless, the guys’ new project Araknet appears to be their new hope. Furthermore, each protagonist continues to deal with personal drama.
There is no official synopsis for Season 3 for now. However, the writers’ room is being opened, according to the official announcement. The show’s scriptwriters promised to focus the next season on the personal lives of the protagonists. They want to reveal how hight could be the price of their ambitions, how their decisions might impact their further lives. This is the only data we know to date. We’re waiting for the official synopsis.
Season 3 Release Date
It’s clear now that StartUp returns for Season 3 in 2018. This confirmation follows from the words “the StartUp family back together again in the new year” in the official announcement. Unfortunately, there has been no news on the subject of the exact release date. We suspect that StartUp Season 3 will premiere in September of 2018, given the fact that two previous seasons debuted in September. However, this is just our assumption.
