Net-juu no Susume: Will There Be Season 2 of Recovery of an MMO Junkie?

Net-juu no Susume: Will There Be Season 2 of Recovery of an MMO Junkie?

Many of us undoubtedly concerned about the health of Rin Kokuyo. Rin is a creator of a web manga, which served a source for the Net-juu no Susume (Recovery of an MMO Junkie) anime series. Unfortunately, her current condition is not suitable for work on the further chapters of the manga. On the other hand, there have been no words regarding the cancellation of the series. As a result, numerous fans strive to learn whether or not we will see Net-juu no Susume Season 2 someday. Given the fact that the manga has been on hiatus since July of 2015, this matter still seems doubtful.

The main issue is that there is not enough source material for another television adaptation. The current status of the Recovery of an MMO Junkie manga is in Chapter 87. The fans managed to translate in English only six chapters of the original manga series. But the good news is that the following chapters point out the new direction, which means that there is the way where to go in Net-juu no Susume Season 2. But apparently Signal.MD has no chance to produce another season without the rest of source material. Therefore, in any case, we should wait for Rin's complete recovery.

Nonetheless, in general, there are many positive indicators, which are playing in favor of the renewal of Recovery of an MMO Junkie for a next season. One of them is a reception by the target audience. According to MAL, the first season of Net-juu no Susume has a score of 7.93/10 ~ 50,000 votes. As a rule, all the anime with a rating close to 8/10 eventually had been renewed for their next installments. However, this figure reflects only the attitude of the US audience to this anime series.

Another significant factor, which can positively affect the decision on renewal is the BD/DVD sales of the series. As of December 2017, about 1400-1500 items were sold per week. So, we regard these figures pretty strong. We can't claim that the sales illustrate the incredible commercial success. However, this amount of sales is enough for a decision to renew the anime for a new season.

Summing up, Recovery of an MMO Junkie looks stable in sales; this anime has a solid fandom; the storyline is unfinished; and, finally, Rin Kokuyo will recover someday. Thus, we conclude that we still have a chance to watch Net-juu no Susume Season 2 sometime. The only question is when.

Net-juu no Susume premiered in October 2017 on Tokyo MX. Soon after, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, AT-X, and other Japanese broadcasters began airing the series. The Signal.MD studio served as a developer of the television adaptation. Crunchyroll acted as a licensor of the anime in North America. The first season of Recovery of an MMO Junkie consisted of ten episodes came to an end on December 8, 2017. An OVA episode streamed on December 15, 2017. Since then, there have been no reports about Season 2.

What Is Net-juu no Susume About?

The story focuses on Moriko Morioka, a 30-year-old single female employee, who dropped out from reality in an exciting MMORPG titled Fruits de Mer. Here, in the virtual world, she acts as a handsome male character named Hayashi, who serves as her avatar. Over time, Moriko encounters another character named Lilly in the game, who is an experienced player assisting Moriko to learn the game. Thanks to Lilly's assistance, Moriko (Hayashi) joins the guild known as @HomeParty. In the meantime, in her real life, Moriko meets Yuta Sakurai, a mysterious blue-eyed blonde, which apparently relates to her virtual life.

Regarding The Possible Release Date For Season 2

As mentioned above, the possibility of Recovery of an MMO Junkie Season 2 is doubtful due to the health condition of the manga's creator Rin Kokuyo. But we don't rule out the decision on renewal at all. On the contrary, we tend to believe that Net-juu no Susume Season 2 might happen someday. As for the release date, we doubt that the anime will return for Season 2 earlier than next fall. The more likely date seems to be the first half of 2019, as we believe. In any case, we are waiting for the official announcement. Stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed on the subject.
