According to CBS, "NCIS is averaging 16.0 million viewers and is the highest-rated drama and second-highest-rated series in all of television." As a result, we tend to believe that the series will be able to survive for at least twenty seasons on CBS.
The current, 16th season premiere has garnered 12.56 million viewers with a 1.4/6 rating/share among adults (P18-49). This figure is only 5.49% less compared to those of Season 15. The viewership of the show thereby remains steady. Just imagine, NCIS Season 1 premiere has drawn just a bit over 13 million viewers, the number almost equal to the one, which reflects the statistics of the current season. Therefore, it was clear, and even obvious that CBS is about to give an early renewal for such a successful television project.
Though, it's worth noting that the viewers have also played a key role in the decision on renewal, given their positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, NCIS Season 16 holds a score of 4.2/5 and a 87% approval rating among the viewers. On Metacritic, the current season's rating was not so high yet still above average, 6.3/10. However, if we take a look at the overall score of NCIS on IMDb, 7.8/10 > 106,000 votes, it becomes clear that the viewers still adore the show.
NCIS Season 17 Release Date
Traditionally, each new season of NCIS was released in September. We thereby tend to think that CBS isn't going to break such a tradition. As a result, NCIS Season 17 release date is most likely slated for September 20-26, 2019. At least all the previous seasons force us to think so. Yet, this this is nothing but our forecast. No doubt, we would like to wait for the official confirmation from CBS. Be sure, as soon as the network announces the exact premiere date, we will update this page. Stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed on the subject.
The story focuses on a group of special agents serving in the NCIS, primary law enforcement and counterintelligence air arm of the US Department of the Navy. The group led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs deals with all prominent criminal offenses that relate to the military service of the Navy.
