Of course, you know that KonoSuba is based on a Japanese light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki. And to date, the series consists of sixteen volumes. The last one titled "Dassō Megami, Gō Hōmu!" was issued on August 1, 2019, in Japan. It's worth noting that the sixteenth volume was released on the eve of the anime film premiere, and thereby couldn't be included in the adaptation. And since the 2nd installment of KonoSuba concluded in March 2017, at least six new volumes have been issued since.
As a result, as of today, the original light novel series is ongoing, and we besides have enough source material for another television season, isn't it? In my opinion, the recent anime film served as a promo for the upcoming television season. By the way, both two seasons of KonoSuba have covered only four novels in the original light novel series. Of course, some story arcs were adapted in the recent anime film. But still, as a result, we have more than enough source material for KonoSuba Season 3.
Also worth mentioning that KonoSuba is a commercially successful media franchise. The series' average BD/DVD sales were close to the mark of 10,000 items per week. And even in 2018, the number of copies of Konosuba s1 BD Box has surpassed 2,700 items per week. In addition, needless to say that KonoSuba has been praised by the target audience.
The 1st season of the anime titled "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!" holds a score of 8.18/10 based on over half a million votes (501,552, to date), on MAL. The 2nd round of the anime series titled "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2" was even more successful, given a score of 8.36/10 based on over 376,000 votes, on MyAnimeList. Finally, the anime film titled "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!: Kurenai Densetsu" holds a score of 7.60/10, which is also above average.
Summing up, everything looks promising, talking about the possibility of KonoSuba Season 3 since there is enough source material for even two additional seasons of the anime; the BD/DVD sales of the media franchise look impressive; the target audience is fully satisfied with the product produced by the Studio Deen and J.C.Staff. By the way, given that the J.C.Staff studio served as a developer of the anime film, it might serve another positive point in favor of renewal.
KonoSuba Season 3 Release Date
Well, now it's clear why I don't rule out the possibility of KonoSuba Season 3, but when might it come out? I don't think that the waiting could last so long. The current television adaptation consists of only twenty episodes split into two seasons. As a rule, the production of a 10-episode television season requires no more than a year. I would be excessively optimistic, supposing that the KonoSuba Season 3 premiere is slated for January 2020, given the current schedule of the series. And, to be honest, I doubt in such a positive case scenario. Yet January 2021 looks as a likely release date for KonoSuba Season 3.
But still, guys, please bear in mind that all the data above is only my forecast, however, it was based on the statistics. Of course, I'm looking forward to any official news from the studio Deen or J.C.Staff, no matter which of them could be responsible for KonoSuba Season 3. Once any official data emerges, I will update this page. So guys, stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed.
