If you're the one who is looking forward to a sequel of Dr. Stone, we have good news since Dr. Stone Season 2 is officially confirmed. Can't believe? Yeah, the waiting is over. A new teaser appeared on the TOHO animation official YouTube page on Dec 22, 2019. According to the official announcement, which is placed below the video, Dr. Stone Season 2 is currently in development. No specific release date has been announced for Dr. Stone Season 2, but the TMS/8PAN studios promised the sophomore round will be released as soon as possible.

To be honest, we predicted the renewal back in this summer. And below we want to share with you our thoughts on the subject. Our forecast was based on the fact that there is enough source material for another installment of Dr. Stone; the anime series has received excellent reviews. And today we have fresh statistics of the BD/DVD sales, which we promised to reveal. Actually, the sales were average. By August 2019, only 614 BD disks were sold per week. And even in spite of this, the studios made a decision to pick up Dr. Stone for a second season.

Most of us know that Dr. Stone is based on the 2017 Japanese manga series of the same name. The original manga is currently consists of eleven volumes, while the last one was issued on July 4, 2019, on the eve of the series premiere, which took place the next day on Tokyo MX and other Japanese television networks.

As a result, even if the television adaptation covers all the chapters of the original manga, at least one volume remains for another television season. However, to be honest, we doubt that the TMS Entertainment studio managed to adapt the entire (almost 100 chapters) manga into just one television season.

Another key factor, which we should take into account is that Dr. Stone has received the universal acclaim, given the statistics presented by MyAnimeList. According to their metrics, Dr. Stone Season 1 holds a score of 8.49/10 based on over 148,000 votes. On Crunchyroll, the sci-fi adventure anime series has a rating of 4.7 out of 5.

Dr. Stone Season 2 Release Date

As we have mentioned above, Dr. Stone Season 2 is confirmed. The sci-fi adventure anime showcased the signs of the successful project, which deserves at least one additional season. We tend to think that Dr. Stone Season 2 might premiere already next summer, on July 2020, given the current schedule of the series.

As a rule, the production cycle lasts for about a year, talking about the regular television series. Nonetheless, in case with anime, the working on the two-cour season could last much more time. Dr. Stone Season 1 consists of 24 episodes (two-cour season). Therefore, the premiere might take place only in 2021, unfortunately.

In any case, we are looking forward to any news from the TMS Entertainment studio. Once the studio announces a specific release date for Dr. Stone Season 2, we will append these data in this section of the article. So guys, stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed.
