Cop Craft: Is There Going To Be A Season 2?
If you've watched the premiere of the new anime Cop Craft, you're no doubt wondering, whether there will be a Season 2. The anime is created by Millepensee Inc., and the studio has yet to announce the renewal. However, we don't rule out the possibility of renewal. That's why we want to discuss some points that point out that Cop Craft Season 2 is due to happen.
To be honest, the odds are weak. As you know, Cop Craft is based on a Japanese light novel series of the same name, which serialization ended back in 2016. To date, six volumes have been issued. And if the Millepensee studio included all the volumes in one television adaptation, we have no chance to see Cop Craft Season 2 one day.
We nonetheless doubt that the studio used all volumes in order to create Cop Craft Season 1. The problem is that there are no data about the number of episodes so far. If we're talking about a 12-episode single-cour season, most likely, the Millepensee studio split the light novel into two parts, each consisting of three books. In such a case, we would have a chance for another television adaptation since three more volumes are available as source material.
However, if we're discussing a 24-episode 2-cour season, the television adaptation very likely covers the entire light novel. In such a case, the odds to see Cop Craft Season 2 one day are close to zero. Also worth mentioning that Cop Craft Season 1 has been praised by viewers, given the statistics presented by MyAnimeList. According to their data, the debut season of the action anime holds a score of 7.31/10 based on approx. 6,000 votes.
The final point worth mentioning is the commercial value of the franchise. If the BD/DVD sales were excellent, the studio, as a rule, decides to film a sequel, even if there is no source material. But such approach requires long waiting before the light novel author releases more books. However, in the case with the Cop Craft light novel, it seems that Shoji Gatoh, the author, doesn't want to release more books.
But still, we want you to know that Cop Craft Blu-ray & DVD Volume 1 is set to release on October 23, 2019. The 2nd volume will be available on November 20, 2019, while the 3rd volume arrives in the market on December 20, 2019, according to the official announcement.

As mentioned above, we don't rule out that Cop Craft Season 2 could happen some day. But when could be its premiere? If Cop Craft Season 1 has only twelve episodes, we might expect a sophomore season already next summer, in July 2020, given the current schedule of the series.
In case of the 2-cour television adaptation, which contains 24 episodes, even if the anime is renewed, the waiting might last so long due to lack of the source material.
